Happy House Moment with the Millers
February 25, 2015 | Posted in Happy House Moments

This week’s ‪‎Happy House Moment‬ is all about the Miller family. They just bought their dream acreage and we officially sold their home in Sherwood Park. I met the Miller family after I was referred to them by the Sherwood park mom’s group on Facebook. We instantly became very close and I will be buying them a chicken coop for their house warming gift!  I love getting the entire family involved in the sale so I always tell the kids that if they help keep the house clean they get to do the best job in real estate… putting up the sold sticker! Welcome to acreage living guys!

Happy House Moment with Pauline and Wayne.
February 13, 2015 | Posted in This + That

I am so happy for my clients Pauline and Wayne! They just bought their first home in Canada. They moved here a few years ago from England. Several of my past clients referred me and I am the lucky one who got to be a part of this amazing first purchase for this loving family. I adored getting to know them as we found their perfect home. My favourite part of my job is that I get to meet amazing people like this couple! Feeling blessed.

Happy House Moment with Courtney and Andrew
December 15, 2014 | Posted in Happy House Moments

Congratulations to Courtney and Andrew on their first home! This was a fun sale for me because Courtney and Andrew are like family. They are my assistant Rhonda’s son and her soon to be daughter in law. They were renting in Edmonton and they only looked at 4-5 houses, but really knew what they wanted as they had been shopping online for about 6 months. They are getting married next month and no longer wanted to rent. I’m thrilled to be a part of their new chapter of home ownership!...

Happy House Moment with Dave and Alyssa
October 20, 2014 | Posted in Happy House Moments

I met Dave and Alyssa over 2 years ago when I helped sell their house and find them their acreage. They heard about me through Alyssa’s mom’s group because I had sold all the moms in the group their homes too. What a great referral! After living in town this family realized that they truly wanted to be on an acreage. They only looked at a couple of houses and new that this acreage was for them. Their motivation for the big move was that they wanted to be on an acreage before school started. Thanks for being great clients Dave and Alyssa!...

If these walls could talk: How to turn a paint makeover into profit.
September 18, 2014 | Posted in Our Thoughts

When we think of paint colours, there are many bland, and equally flashy, choices. Your beloved “Tangerine Dream,” or “Raspberry Lolly” may be loved by some, but could send potential buyers running for the door. Never underestimate the investment of painting before you list. It’s a relatively quick and inexpensive pick-me-up for your house, and paint colour can instantly brighten a space, modernize the outdated, and give the illusion of space. I encourage my clients to also consider the following before they add a fresh coat:

Not for the DIYers

While painting is probably considered one of the easier home improvement jobs (compared to, say, installing a new floor, or tiling a shower), painting an entire house is an ambitious endeavor. I truly believe it’s a task best left to the professionals. Painting is a multistep process that may involve wall repair, removing fixtures, taping, priming, and, of course, clean...

How rough days help me grow
July 22, 2014 | Posted in Our Thoughts

When we have a bad day or someone puts us to the test we have two ways to approach it: get angry, play the blame game and fall into a miserable rut for as long as needed; or, we can stop, breathe, look back on the situation and ask a few important questions…

What could I have done differently? How can I learn from this situation? What reaction could I have chosen or can I choose to positively impact the outcome?

In real estate, my clients trust me to look after one of the biggest assets in their lives. With that can come a lot of pressure and heightened emotions from the client. And then, there is also the other party involved (the other realtor and their clients). You put all of these people, their emotions, and their needs into the mix and it’s easy to see how...

Selling Tip | Professional Home Staging
May 28, 2014 | Posted in Inspiring Homes, Our Thoughts

Let’s face it; almost all of us judge a book by its cover. So, when it comes to home buying… we are most definitely judging based on first impression and images. When you walk through a show home or a beautifully decorated dream home, a large part of what makes you fall in love with the home is the way each space is carefully and meticulously decorated. From linens to lamps, and wall hangings to accent tables, the home inspires you and allows you to image it as your own.

When selling your home, you want people to be able to see it as their home… not yours. Having your home professionally staged helps to create the show home/dream home experience for buyers. Some people have the knack to stage their own home, but not many. A home is a very personal space, and owners can have a...

I Trust the Experts
April 3, 2014 | Posted in Our Thoughts

Whether I am balancing the books or furnace, I live by one simple rule: Trust my experts. I am clear on my strengths, my accountant is clear on hers, and my handyman on his. When I trust my experts, I save time, materials, and money, and I experience joy when I enlist others to help me out with what they are truly good at. The trick is to find the right people and build a trusting relationship.

To find my experts, I…

I trust my gut instinct. In the past, when I have chosen to work with someone who has been high in energy and enthusiasm from the start, and demonstrated organization and a sound process, I have put my trust in them and their services. Word-of-mouth recommendations, friends and family often turn out to be in my list of experts....

My Year in Review 2013
January 4, 2014 | Posted in Our Thoughts

Before I even begin with a new bucket list and goals, I like to revisit my year and feel gratitude for everything I accomplished and experienced.

What was my theme for 2013? When I recount all the amazing events and milestones, the one word that comes to mind is Happiness.

In 2013 I found true happiness in my career, family, and with my inner self. I did some journeying outside and inside.

I feel I put in place the proper structures and expectations to say “2014, BRING IT ON!”

With happiness came a lot of new friendships for me this year. Not acquaintances. Real, deep, soulful friendships. I feel that this is a gift in my life. Often I find that once we reach a certain stage in our lives, it becomes a bit more difficult to cultivate new relationships.

What else filled me with happiness this past year? My...
